Community Group Description

Born or raised former cult members face a unique set of challenges when they leave their group. The unique circumstances of being born or raised in a group can - at times - leave survivors feeling that their recovery needs are somehow left unmet.

People Leave Cults is proud to offer an accessible alternative for born or raised former members. Facilitators Ashlen Hilliard and Cyndi Matthews are passionate professionals whose joy stems from working with cult survivors.

The following topics may be explored during the course of our 2023 meetups:

  • Relationships

  • Parenting

  • Finding a therapist

  • Identity

  • Navigating relationships with family members

  • and more!

This group offering is designed to help support born or raised former members as they learn about their experiences, seek community, and search for support.

If you are seeking insight into coercive control, undue influence, and cult recovery, you are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Accessibility and Safety

To ensure a good experience for all attendees and participants, People Leave Cults offers the following accessibility considerations:

  • Sharing pronouns verbally or as a part of your attendee display name can create a safer environment for everyone. However, you have the option to opt out of sharing your pronouns if you don't want to, no questions asked!

  • Closed captioning will be available.

  • Participants can choose whether or not to enable their video during the Zoom meeting.

  • Participants can self-disclose what they feel comfortable sharing.

  • Participants will also have the ability to leave feedback with the organizers.

If there are any additional accommodations that would help you, please reach out to info@peopleleavecults.com
